Rapid Response and Relief Operations:

We specialise in deploying emergency response teams and resources to disaster-affected areas around the world with the aim of providing immediate relief and assistance to those in need. Our teams deliver life-saving aid, including food, clean water, shelter, medical care, and psychosocial support, to alleviate suffering and ensure the safety and well-being of affected populations.

Protection of Vulnerable Populations:

We prioritise the protection and support of vulnerable and marginalised populations, including women, children, elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, refugees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Our relief efforts are tailored to address their specific needs and vulnerabilities, ensuring that they receive equitable access to assistance and protection.

Gender-sensitive and Inclusive Approaches:

We mainstream gender equality and social inclusion considerations into our disaster relief efforts, recognising the differential impacts of disasters on different genders and identities. We ensure that our programs are responsive to the diverse needs of all individuals and groups affected by disasters, including those facing discrimination and Marginalisation.

Community Engagement and Participation:

We actively engage disaster-affected communities in the design, implementation, and evaluation of our relief interventions, fostering partnerships based on trust, respect, and solidarity. We empower local leaders, community organizations, and grassroots networks to take ownership of the response and recovery process, ensuring that interventions are culturally appropriate and contextually relevant.

Long-term Recovery and Resilience-building:

We remain committed to supporting the long-term recovery and resilience-building of disaster-affected communities beyond the immediate relief phase. We invest in livelihood restoration, infrastructure rehabilitation, capacity-building, and community-based disaster risk reduction initiatives to help communities rebuild their lives and strengthen their resilience to future disasters.

Advocacy for Policy Change and Accountability:

We advocate for policy change and increased accountability in disaster response and humanitarian assistance efforts at local, national, and international levels. We engage with governments, humanitarian actors, and other stakeholders to promote the adoption of policies and practices that prioritize the protection of human rights and ensure the effective delivery of humanitarian aid.

Global Solidarity and Collaboration:

We stand in solidarity with disaster-affected communities worldwide and collaborate with other humanitarian organizations, networks, and alliances to mobilize resources, share expertise, and coordinate efforts. We believe in the importance of global solidarity and cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises and building a more resilient and inclusive world.

Through our humanitarian assistance efforts, ICOHR is dedicated to upholding the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence, and ensuring that the rights and dignity of all individuals affected by disasters are respected and protected.
