THE SITUATION IN HAITI CALLS FOR URGENT PROTECTION AND SUPPORT FOR NEARLY THREE MILLION CHILDREN IN NEED.

UNICEF Haiti Representative Bruno Maes has highlighted the dire situation faced by children in Haiti, describing it as harsher and more dangerous than ever before. Armed groups perpetrate violence, including attacks on children on their way to school and extreme sexual violence against women and girls. Displacement, kidnappings for ransom, and attacks on schools have also escalated. Moreover, chronic malnutrition has reached alarming levels, especially in impoverished and insecure areas of the capital. Children are increasingly vulnerable to recruitment by armed groups due to violence, poverty, and despair. Haiti also grapples with the constant threat of natural disasters such as storms and earthquakes. UNICEF urgently appeals for funding, as nearly three million children in Haiti are in desperate need. Despite limited resources, UNICEF is expanding its operations and providing life-saving assistance. The international community is called upon to support Haiti’s children during this critical time.
