UN Chief Urges Humanitarian Ceasefire in Gaza, ICC Prosecutor Calls for Accountability

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and the immediate release of all hostages amid the resumption of hostilities between Israel and Hamas. He urged Israel to avoid actions exacerbating the humanitarian situation and emphasized the need to protect civilians and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization urged Israel to safeguard civilians and ensure humanitarian access, while the International Criminal Court’s Prosecutor called for accountability for attacks against civilians and emphasized the importance of providing aid to Gaza without diversion. The Prosecutor also stressed the need for compliance with international humanitarian law and investigation into credible allegations of crimes.
